Ernest J. "Red" Partington

Ernest J. "Red" Partington, 82, of Connellsville, Pennsylvania, died August 30, 1998. He held I.B.M. number 7981, was a member of the Order of Merlin Excalibur (50 continuous years membership). He had been president of the Uniontown Ring five times, I.B.M. territorial representative four times and was a member of Ring 158 in Greensburg, Pennsylvania at the time of his death.

He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy. He was retired as manager of stores for the West Penn Power Co. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Elks Lodge.

Red was 16 years old when he began to perform as a magician. He viewed magic as a way to attract customers for business people and an avenue to offer entertainment to his audience by interspersing humorous anecdotes while performing magic. He also valued performing as a wonderful way to meet people and create a lasting impression. Red especially enjoyed doing "close-up magic". He was always interested in learning from others and happy to share his wealth of knowledge with anyone eager to learn.

He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Howard (Gay) Terry of New York, N.Y.; a grandson, Travis Terry, and a granddaughter, Zoe Terry, both of New York. He was preceded in death by his wife, Cora Peters Partington on June 5, 1992, and also a brother,Hilton Partington, on Aug.29, 1986.
